Clubrooms will be open from 10am for welcome, sign on and pre-event refreshments. Briefing in the club room at 10.30am. Race fee $10 per person ($10 Sail Pass for Non Members) with children under 16 FREE. The event will start at 11.30am between Dart Island and the Middle Wall and will finish at 2.00pm. The event may be postponed to another day if the weather forecast is not conducive to an enjoyable Sunday on the water.
Bar Tender crew will deliver a container to each boat at the start with questions and activities to perform in order to gain points. This container must be returned to Bar Tender with the completed forms and other collectables at the end of the event. Each boat may also be given other items to help complete activities.
The answers to questions and activities may be obtained any way you like.
A boat may use any form of power, or a combination of them, to propel it during the event. However, a yacht must hoist at least one sail for the majority of the event.
The success of this event relies on good sportsmanship. Points will be deducted if any boat deliberately restricts another from carrying out event activities or answering questions.
Suggested requirements for a successful and/or satisfying event are:
A) The more people on the team the more likely it is to score well.
B) At least one crew member relatively agile and willing to get wet feet.
C) A pair of binoculars.
D) A smart mobile phone.
E) A boat hook.
F) This is a fun event so try not to get stressed. If it gets too much for you just relax, enjoy the day and watch the others get stressed.
The boat with the most points tallied at the conclusion of event will be declared the winner, be recorded on the perpetual Apollo Trophy in the club house for the 2024/5 season AND receive a free drink for each crew member. There will also be a delicious early light supper, snacks and refreshments available at the club while scores are being tallied, winners announced with celebrations and presentations. Possibly even a short video compilation of the event on the big screen back at the club.
